Kathryn Bigelow wins Directors Guild of America Award!

I have been breathlessly following the Directors Guild of America Award results on Twitter (#DGA) all night, waiting to learn this.

KATHRYN BIGELOW HAS WON THE DGA AWARD FOR THE HURT LOCKER!!!

This is the first time a woman has won this award, and it's also a prize that is strongly correlated with Academy Award (Oscar) winners for Best Director, which no woman has won, and only three have ever been nominated for, as of yet. (The nomination for the Oscars will be announced this Tuesday.)

good for her; that movie is on my list of ones to watch before the Oscars
Awesome! <3
I've always heard Golden Globes is a predictor so I was bummed that James Cameron got it. I respected him for his shout-out to her, though, especially considering the awkwardness imposed by viewers (they themselves seem to have no issue with it) due to their being exes. But yeah...I was bummed, not necessarily because I don't thikn he deserves it too, but because she certainly does as well and it would be groundbreaking.
